World of Magic

Crazy Cozy Blogfest ;)

In honor of the release of two fantastic cozy mysteries (look below for the details and links) I’ve ‘hopped’ on board the celebration.

For this blogfest, I need to pitch my own wacky cozy mystery.  The nuttiest pitch wins signed copies of the launched books!

Hop on over to Mystery Writing is Murder for all the details.

Now for my pitch….

Protagonist: 17 year old Zelda Tambini, member of a circus troop, very athletic and flexible. A contortionist who enjoys finding new places to ‘hide’ and spy on the other circus performers. An orphan that grew up in the circus, loves gossip and tabloid magazines with news of alien babies and conspiracy theories. She has a crush on a trapeze artist, Milo Milan.

Sidekick: the slick Cletus VanBuren, spider monkey pick pocket, who lures people into the circus with his adorable face. He and Zelda have become inseparable. He ‘collects’ pez dispensers from children in every town and loves to sample cotton candy.

Theme: Travel destinations abound with this series! Set in sites like Dinkytown, Minnesota and Flinstone, Maryland. (Yes they are real towns!)

Victim 1: Cosmo Tuttle, the financial backer for the circus is found dead in the big top tent wearing an evening dress and a wad of counterfeit bills stuffed in his bra. The Hanged Man tarot card in his hand.

Victim 2: A local plumber in town, Phylo Jenkins. He is found dead in clown make up in a circus ‘pot-a-pot’, counterfeit bills wadded up in his fists. The Tower tarot card found in his shoe.

Twist: Mysterious ghost horse that follows the circus from town to town. Always spotted at twilight hours prancing from tent to tent, fully saddled and dressed. Is the circus haunted?

And now here are the real Cozy Mystery books 🙂

Quilt of Innocence by Elizabeth Craig

As the newest member of the Village Quilters Guild, Beatrice has a lot of gossip to catch up on—especially with the Patchwork Cottage quilt shop about to close. It seems that Judith, the landlord everyone loves to hate, wants to raise the rent, despite being a quilter herself… But when Judith is found dead, the harmless gossip becomes an intricate patchwork of mischievous motives. And it’s up to Beatrice’s expert eye to decipher the pattern and catch the killer, before her life gets sewn up for good.

The Azalea Assault by Alyse Carlson (pen name of Hart Johnson)

Camellia Harris has achieved a coup in the PR world. The premier national magazine for garden lovers has agreed to feature one of Roanoke’s most spectacular gardens in its pages—and world-famous photographer Jean-Jacques Georges is going to shoot the spread. But at the welcoming party, Jean-Jacques insults several guests, complains that flowers are boring, and gooses almost every woman in the room. When a body is found the next morning, sprawled across the azaleas, it’s almost no surprise that the victim is Jean-Jacques.  With Cam’s brother-in-law blamed for the crime—and her reporter boyfriend, Rob, wanting the scoop—Cam decides to use her skills to solve the murder. Luckily a PR pro like Cam knows how to be nosy.

I weave myth, magic and fairy tales into my paranormal novels. I would rather spend my days with sirens and shapeshifters than live in the real world.
